Dumbphone Deliverance is an independent interactive-media development collective dedicated to creating thoughtful, innovative, and enjoyable interactive media experiences. Built on principles of solidarity and creative excellence, the studio develops games from the perspectives of disciplinary experts across a range of creative fields.
The collective hopes to be operating in close coordination with a worker cooperative venture with roots in existing solidarity infrastructure. Governance is grounded in shared values of mutual support, civic friendship, and commitment to cultural independence from closed platform hegemonies.
Development is guided by the following principles:
- Solidarity: Mutual commitment allows experimentation with new organizational forms
- Excellence: Standards are defined by disciplinary experts
- Cultural Ritual: Repeated practices build community and shared purpos. Sometimes these purposes may feel "silly", "childish", or even worse... they.. may say we're ... "gamers"....
Dumbphone Deliverance believes that high-quality, commercially viable games can emerge when creatives organize collectively, combine their expertise, and operate with shared democratic principles.
